President of Moldova Igor Dodon, after marking his ballot in the mayoral elections in Chisinau, said he voted for a mayor of Chisinau who would cope with the challenges. He called on the citizens of Chisinau municipality to vote for a better Chisinau and for a canididate with real approaches, IPN reports.

“At least eight in ten residents of Chisinau are dissatisfied with the situation in Chisinau. That’s why I voted for a mayor who is better than any other candidate,” stated Igor Dodon. According to him, not much geopolitics was seen in the campaign prior to the mayoral elections and the one who will win the elections should follow the same path.

Eleven candidates are contending for the mayoralty of Chisinau. For the elections to be valid, the voter turnout should be of at least one fourth of the voters. The candidate who gains more than half of the votes wins the elections. If no one gathers the necessary number of votes, runoffs are held in two weeks for the two candidates who obtained most of the votes. If the elections are invalidated or nullified, they are rerun in two weeks based on the same voter rolls and with the same candidates.
