The Party of Socialists’ candidate for President Igor Dodon said only a President like him will be able to ensure balance in society and to maintain relations of friendship with the European Union and the Russian Federation. He made such a statement in electoral debates on the public TV channel “Moldova 1”, IPN reports.

“We must borrow what’s good both from the East and the West. We must ensure equality for everyone. I will keep the liberalized visa regime with the EU and the Romanian nationality of Moldovans. I promise we will have good relations with Ukraine too. Nobody will be affected if I’m elected President,” said the Socialist heavyweight.

Igor Dodon leveled accusations at his opponent Maia Sandu even if he suggested discussing solutions, not making mutual accusations at the beginning of the debate. “Times are harder now owing to those who have been in power for seven years. My opponent formed part of this government. She served as minister in three Cabinets. Maia Sandu voted for the repayment of the stolen US$1 billion to the made the burden of the people. Missis Maia Sandu was voted twice by Vlad Plahotniuc, but this never voted me,” he stated.

The candidate assured that the first thing he will do when he becomes President will be to repeal the law by which the people were made to repay the money stolen from the banking system. He promised he will plead for liquidating the Baccalaureate exams, will restore access to the Russian market and will confiscate the property of corrupt judges and prosecutors so as to augment the budget.
