President Igor Dodon said the checkpoints placed in the security zone are illegal and he asked the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky to eliminate them. He plans to have a meeting with
Krasnoselsky at the end of July or the start of August, IPN reports.
“Evidently, we categorically oppose and do not accept these illegal checkpoints. Our position is very clear. We criticized this decision. I’ve had a permanent dialogue with Mister Krasnoselski and asked that these checkpoints should be removed,” Igor Dodon said in the program “President Responds”.
As regards the meeting with Krasnoselsky, President Dodon stated the agendas have to be coordinated. They will discuss the steps taken so far and those that need to be taken.
As to the withdrawal of the armaments from the left side of the Nistru by Russia, Igor Dodon said an agreement was earlier reached and discussions are held with representatives of the OSCE and the subsequent steps will be later discussed in a broader format. The pullout should actually start next year.
