President Igor Dodon welcomes the “significant” decrease in fuel prices and says that this was also due to the price monitoring mechanism and the efficient communication with fuel market operators, IPN reports.

“As you know, the oil prices at the world level declined, but the fuel prices in our country weren’t decreased. On the contrary, they were even raised sometimes. This happened because of the chaos and corruption that were intentionally maintained by some of the state institutions in favor of those who were behind those illegal schemes,” President Dodon posted on Facebook.

He noted he requested the state institutions to permanently monitor the way in which the prices are formed and to intervene whenever it is necessary so as to protect the people. “We have the first positive effects in this regard and I encourage the authorities to following further this path. In the immediate period, I will come up with new initiatives designed to ensure greater accuracy in the way in which the prices and tariffs are formed so that the people no longer pay unjustified sums,” wrote Igor Dodon.

Filling stations posted lower fuel prices in the morning of February 7. Gasoline is by 0.30 lei on average cheaper, while diesel fuel and liquefied petroleum gas by 0.30-0.40 lei. Almost one week ago, the fuel prices were decreased by 0.20-0.25 lei/liter. In the middle of January, the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel were increased by 0.7 lei/liter on average, whereas the price of liquefied petroleum gas by 1.2 lei.
