The President of Moldova is for holding snap parliamentary elections if the current parliamentary majority is unable to work. Igor Dodon agrees to the formation of a government coalition, but without the participation of the MPs of the Shor group and the Pro Moldova group, IPN reports.

“I think that if the majority coalition loses two-three more MPs and is unable to work further, a majority between authentic parties can be formed, not with Shor and with Candu yet. In such a case, we would better hold snap elections. Or we will turn into the Parliament that existed until last February, when 30-40 MPs left the parties and their groups and joined Plahotniuc. If the practice of the past few months continues, we should better dissolve Parliament and hold snap parliamentary elections,” Igor Dodon stated in the talk show “Secrets of the Power” on Jurnal TV channel.

President Dodon said that for economic and political reasons, the snap parliamentary elections could be held together with the presidential elections. The Socialist MPs presented sufficient arguments to the Constitutional Court for these elections to be held concomitantly.

“If the CC says that the elections can be held simultaneously, I will invite the four parties that I consider authentic, the PPPDA, PAS, PDM and PSRM, to the Presidential Office to see if we can come to terms on a formula for dissolving Parliament so as to hold the presidential elections concurrently with the parliamentary elections,” said the official.

He noted that if the CC rules that these elections cannot be held simultaneously, the presidential elections should be held on November 1 this year, while the snap parliamentary elections later, in accordance with the Constitution.

The Party of Socialists asked the Constitutional Court to pronounce and say if the snap parliamentary elections can be held concomitantly with the presidential elections.
