Former President Igor Dodon disseminated a video message whereby he congratulates the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and expresses his hope that after a difficult 2020 year, 2021 will be better, less dangerous and brighter. Igor Dodon wished wisdom to the Moldovan political class and more patriotism in the hearts or all the politicians and citizens.

In his video message, Igor Dodon says 2020 was efficient despite the difficulties it brought to each family, to the country and the whole mankind. The pandemic, drought, severe bans, economic decline and political or geopolitical challenges – all these negative factors seriously affected the Republic of Moldova and other states of the region in 2020.

“I want to believe that this year taught us several important life lessons. First of all, the pandemic made us praise more our dear persons from which we had been separated by the restrictions for months. Furthermore, the difficulties made us more understanding and sensible. We started to praise more the own health, the family environment and the importance of modern medicine.”

Igor Dodon said he is proud of the Moldovan citizens, especially of the medical personnel, as the doctors in 2020 showed heroism, will and firmness in the continuous fight against the pandemic and saved thousands of lives. He offered his condolences to all those who lost their relatives and close persons who succumbed to COVID-19.

Igor Dodon handed over to Maia Sandu on December 24, after holding office as President for four years.
