The Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) led by Maia Sandu is probably the result of the people’s entreaty following the implosion of the so-called pro-European parties, considers political analyst Igor Botan. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, this said that the PAS has evident advantages given the demand for credible pro-European parties that would serve as substituent platforms for those who discredited the European idea, IPN reports.

Speaking about the party’s leader, Igor Botan said Maia Sandu, being a member of the Cabinet, condemned the corrupt government of which she formed part. She became an emblematic figure after she was nominated for the premiership, being yet rejected by those from the Liberal Party and the Democratic Party, with those from the Liberal Democratic Party changing their mind.

“Moreover, she promised to create a political party based on new principles and criteria and kept her word. She planned that this will happen in May more than half a year ago and she planned well and correctly,” stated the analyst.

He considers the fact that the PAS managed to bring together 7,500 people, to persuade them and to make them go through ‘filters’ is impressive. “So, there are a number of trump cards in the case of the messages of the Party “Action and Solidarity”. This implies equally the private initiative and solidarity with the many,” said Igor Botan.

He also said that at least for now, Maia Sandu fulfilled her promises, defended her principles and is not suspected of involvement in dubious businesses.
