The decision to annul or put off the presidential elections, owing to the rise in the number of infections with the novel coronavirus, is taken not by the President, but by Parliament with at least 51 votes in favor, if a state of emergency is declared in the country, Igor Dodon stated in a new edition of the program “President Responds”, being quoted by IPN.

“I hope a lot that the elections will not be postponed until next year. How can we know that the situation next year will be better if we postpone them to the start of next year? We cannot know. That’s why I reiterate: I will not propose putting off the elections,” stated President Dodon, who intends to run as an independent for a new term in office.

“I hope the elections will take place as planned, on November 1, and I’m sure that it will happen so.”
