Moldovan society doesn’t understand properly the gravity of the human trafficking problem and mixes up the terms “prostitution” and “trafficking”, declared the vice-president of the International Centre “La Strada”, Daniela Misail for Info-Prim Neo. Taking as a background this problem, the Centre organized during the year 2005-2006 nearly 100 informative and preventive seminars dedicated to the problem of human trafficking in the superior classes of the schools and lyceums from the Chisinau Municipality. Results of the campaign constituted the subject for the Teenager’s Forum entitled “I also care…”. The participants evaluated the activities organized during the campaign by three contests: drawing, essay writing and own creation. The winners were awarded with the support of the international financial donors Interchurch Organization from Holland, Moldovan Missions of the International Migration Organization, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the European Commission. The “La Strada” experts note that a fifth part of the trafficked persons can be identified and can benefit of social assistance. 70% of the trafficked persons don’t beneficiate of adequate social assistance and are rejected from their community and 80% of them are rejected by their families.
