After being on hunger strike for four days, a group of people demand to take legal action against President Igor Dodon for “state treason” and announce the suspension of the protest on health grounds. In a news conference at IPN, Vasile Singur, one of the protesters, said the group will resume the hunger strike, but will move the protest venue from the Parliament Building to the U.S. Embassy as they obtained no reaction after the first episode.

“Igor Dodon should be jailed for the wrongdoings he committed during over three years,” stated Vasile Singur. He demanded that Dodon should step down also because he asked for money from Russia in favor of the Party of Socialists.

Protester Maria Savanova said Igor Dodon should be suspended from office and arrested for treason and empty promises. “We want him to stay in jail as he belongs there. The people support us. Most of them consider Igor Dodon is a traitor and should be removed from office,” stated the woman.

Dumitru Munteanu, of the group of protesters, said no official came to talk to them during their four-day strike and this increased their distrust in the state institutions. Igor Dodon is a criminal who has no weight in society and who came to office by fraud, by bringing votes from Russia, Transnistria, Gagauzia.

President of the Party “Democracy at Home” Vasile Costiuc came to the conference as a person who made common cause with the protesters. He said these went on hunger strike in a move to sensitize the people and to transmit a clear signal as to the danger of Moldova being “Dodonized” and subdued to Russia’s interests. The real power in the country does not belong to the Sandu Government and is gradually undertaken by Igor Dodon and the Socialists. Moldova’s interest is in the EU, alongside Romania.
