Hundreds of women from Causeni district, who felt discriminated on employment, benefitted from free legal advice within the social project “Piloting of non-discrimination services in Causeni district” that was implemented by the Partnership for Development Center during ten months.

Contacted by IPN, the Center’s executive director Alexei Buzu said that mainly women were involved in the project because they are most often subject to employment discriminated.

According to Alexei Buzu, at the initial stage the women avoided to seek help. After anonymity was guaranteed, the number of beneficiaries increased significantly. But it’s not enough to create a consultancy service. Continuous informing is needed as there are discriminated mainly the persons who have limited access to information.

The director of the Partnership for Development Center also said that the project managed to prove its public utility and in the future will be proposed for implementation in different state institutions dealing with employment.

The project “Piloting of non-discrimination services in Causeni district” was implemented with financial support from the USAID in partners with the Moldova Civil Society Strengthening Program that is carried out by FHI360. The US$15,000 project was completed in May.
