The Humanist Party (PUM) will participate in the 2009 parliamentary elections jointly with the Centrist Union (UCM), led by former premier Vasile Tarlev, Info-Prim Neo reports. 5 members of the PUM leadership were invited to attend the UCM’s extraordinary congress on Saturday. PUM’s president Ion Mereuta has told media the two parties have already signed a memo providing for going on a single list for the parliament, but the final decision PUM will make by the year-end. According to Ion Mereuta, the party will comply with the Justice Ministry’s decision, which declined to register its name as the Christian-Humanist Party. The PUM was founded in December 2005. Its goals are to promote Moldova’s territorial integrity, to build a humanist society and to integrate Moldova into the world’s and Europe’s values, etc. Earlier, the Party Our House Moldova led by Chisinau councilor Oleg Onişcenco stated it will go on a single list with UCM for the parliament.
