Pets can be brought into the Republic of Moldova only through customs posts where there are border inspection posts of the National Food Safety Agency, IPN reports.

Such posts are available in: Sculeni (road), Ungheni (rail), Giurgiulesti (road, rail and river), Cahul (road), Etulia (rail), Criva (road and rail) and also at the Chisinau International Airport, the Railway Terminal and in Cuciurgan, Leuseni (road) and Tudora (road).

The maximum number of pets that can accompany the owner or an authorized person during one  noncommercial trip cannot exceed five.

If the person travels by air, he or she should also consult the airline’s representatives about the rules or possible restrictions regarding the transportation of pets.

Persons can obtain information on this subject through the Customs Service’s Information Line on +373 22 78 8888, through the chat or by the e-mail callcenter@customs.gov.md.
