Homes for flood-affected people to be built starting August 23

By August 15 the donors should complete the assessment of the damages caused by the floods on the Prut, and immediately after that the amount of donations will be announced. The construction of homes for the people affected by the floods will start on August 23, announced Prime Minister Vlad Filat on the national radio. An ad-hoc commission set up by the Government is to initiate procedures for the identification and acquisition of homes for the victims who chose to have an already finished dwelling. “I want to assure those who claim that the Government is unable to respect its promises as concerns the building of houses for the flood victims that there are sufficient resources to have these people accommodated in the constructed homes by the beginning of the cold season”, said the premier. Filat specified that the new households will be built on parcels covering from 900 to 1,200 square meters. Earlier, State Minister Victor Bodiu said the constriction of nearly 700 homes for the flood-affected people will start with the 1.5 million euros accumulated by the State Treasury for this purpose.
