The websites of the Government, the President’s Office and the Parliament became black and white. “In tones of mourning, we render solemn homage to the first President of the Republic of Moldova Mircea Snegur – the architect of our independence,” the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă posted on Facebook.
“With respect and gratitude, we remember his significant contribution to the formation of the independent and sovereign state, the Republic of Moldova,” wrote Daniel Vodă.
The first president of the Republic of Moldova Mircea Snegur died on September 13 as a result of an incurable disease. September 16 was declared a day of national mourning, while the funeral is held with state honors.
The national public broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” broadcasts the funeral live.
