The disability pensions provided to participants in the armed conflict in Afghanistan and in the war for defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, who were recruited from among conscripts, were increased. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament in the second reading on April 13, IPN reports.

For persons with a severe disability degree, the pension will be 3,500 lei, 1,842 lei up. The pension for persons with an accentuated disability will be 2,500 lei, by 1, 062 lei higher, while for persons with an average disability 1,500 lei, as opposed to 908 lei until now. Over 165 persons will get higher pensions.

The bill authors said this category of service members were unable to choose between taking part in armed conflicts or not. The decision was taken by the state. The rise in pensions will contribute to ensuring decent living conditions for them.

The pensions will be recalculated as of March 1, 2017.
