The latest strong winds caused damage in Orhei town, where roofs were destroyed and trees downed. Contacted by phone by IPN, press officer of the Civic Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said no such incidents were reported in other districts.
In Orhei, the high winds pulled away slates from the roofs of a number of apartment buildings and from the roof of the local printing house located on Vasile Lupu St. There were also damaged the roofs of two education institutions – the Theoretical Lyceum “Alecu Russo” and the Arts School.
On Mihai Eminescu St, a tree fell on a Toyota car, damaging it partially. No person was hurt. On April 18, the local commission for emergencies came together to discuss the steps that will be taken to remove the consequences of the wind and to assess the caused damage.
Employees of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the local amenities service, the power distribution company and representatives of the local public administration worked on the spot for several hours.
