The State HydroMeteorology Service has issued a yellow-code heat advisory from Saturday, July 9, through Friday, July 15, with air temperature readings expected to stand at +33...+35 degrees Celsius.
On July 12 in the second half of the day showers are likely to fall in parts of the country, which nevertheless will not be enough to alleviate the heat.
Doctors warn that in canicular weather people with health problems should avoid getting out and walking in the sun. Hats, canopies and light scarfs, as well as light cotton clothes are strongly recommended when outside. Water intake should be increased and drinking alcohol should be avoided.
When at home, doctors recommend taking cool showers. As long as temperatures outside are higher than indoors, windows should be kept shut, with the curtains or blinds closed. At the office, workers are advised to spray their faces with mineral water to cool off an keep the skin hydrated.
