The penalties for persons who voluntarily give their vehicles to persons who do not have a driver’s license will be harsher. If the new amendments to the Contravention Code are adopted, these persons will be fined up to 3,000 lei, IPN reports.

In the first nine months of this year, the National Patrolling Inspectorate fined over 2,500 car owners who allowed persons without a driver’s license to drive their vehicles.

To combat this phenomenon, the patrolling police proposed increasing the fines for such an offense.

So far this year, driving minors caused 44 accidents on the national roads. In these, two children were killed, while 38 suffered injuries. Most of the times, the minors crash the cars into obstacles or overturn them because they lack experience and the necessary knowledge.
