Petrocub-Hancesti finished third in the national football championship. The team trained by Lilian Popescu demolished Zimbru 4-1 in the last stage and profited from the defeats suffered by Dacia and Zaria, IPN reports.
Petrocub even led by 4-0, owing to the goals scored by Ambros, Mudrac and Taras and the own goal scored by Prepelita. Damascan scored the goal of honor for the guests in the 74th minute.
“Before the last stage, we hoped to rank fourth. We didn’t even expect that we could finish third. It is important to have a good performance in the UEFA Europa League,” Petrocub coach Lilian Popescu told a news conference.
The other matches of the 18th stage of the National Division ended as follows: Dinamo-Auto - Dacia 3-2, Spicul - Milsami 0-2, Sfantul Gheorghe - Zaria 2-1 and Sheriff - Speranta 0-1.
