Guidebook for Romanian citizens on May 26 European Parliament elections

In connection with the European Parliament elections that will take place on May 26, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania has launched the “Guidebook of the Romanian voter abroad”, IPN reports, quoting a press release of Romania’s Embassy in Moldova.

The main objective of the guidebook is to correctly inform the Romanian citizens abroad about the conditions in which they can vote for members from Romania in the elections to the European Parliament.

The guidebook, which is available on the Ministry’s website, includes information about the persons who have the right to vote, papers with which one can vote abroad and the voting procedure. It also contains information about the duties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Electoral Authority in the context of the European Parliament elections.

In the elections of May 26, 2019, the Romanian citizens put on the voter rolls of other EU member states can vote to elect Romania’s representatives on the European Parliament only after they sign an own responsibility statement, pledging they haven’t voted in the same elections for European Parliament members from the EU member states on whose registers of voters they are written.

To exercise the right to vote, the Romanian citizens should have a valid Romanian identification paper.
