Thirty Dacia Duster cars intended for the guard services were handed over to local police inspectorates on November 7. Also today, four Dacia Logan cars were distributed to the Judicial Police Service, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, the Dacia Duster cars were bought with European funds allocated for creating conditions needed for ensuring efficient activity in the field, while the purchase of the Dacia Logan vehicles forms part of the justice sector reform strategy for 2011-2016 and will be used in the municipality of Chisinau and in Hancesti and Rezina towns.

“The equipment of the police should become a norm. With the budget support from the European Union and the U.S. Government and with the assistance of the other EU partners, Moldova’s police will be fully outfitted by the end of 2017,” said Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean.

The General Police Inspectorate’s head Ion Bodrug said the changes initiated in 2012 enable to achieve the objective of modernizing the police and of ensuring an efficient, modern and professional police service.

Two days ago, 37 local police inspectorates received 164 new cars that were purchased and equipped with money provided by the European Union.
