The prosecutors completed the investigation and sent to court the criminal case started against the head of the Buiucani local office of the municipal enterprise “Greek Areas Association” over negligence that resulted in the death of a person, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the suspect was banned from leaving the country and faces up to six years in jail and ban on holding particular posts or performing particular activities for a period of five to ten years.
This is accused of not taking measures, in accordance with his professional obligations, and of not personally inspecting the managed areas or of entrusting his inferiors with the task of inspecting the areas between June 22, 2008 and June 14, 2016. As a result, a large tree that was about 20 meters in height and had his roots in an advanced sate of putrefaction fell on Vasile Lupu St in Buiucani district and crushed to death a woman.
Starting with 2008, even if dwellers repeatedly informed about the danger of trees falling, the public servants didn’t react and didn’t ensure the examination of trees so as not to endanger the life and health of the population.
The investigation is continued so as to identify all those responsible for managing the green areas in Chisinau who didn’t do their duties and to hold them accountable.
