Gratiesti woman killed with hammer

A 40-year-old man from Gratieşti is suspected of killing an old woman from the same village because she did not give him enough money for the flour and meat that she bought from him. Chisinau General Police Commissariat spokesman Adrian Jovmir has told Info-Prim Neo that the body was discovered by a man who went to visit the 81-year-old woman. The medical examiners are to determine when the murder was committed. According to preliminary inquiries, the woman was killed several days ago. There were signs of violent death on the body. The hammer found near the body was probably the murder weapon. The arrested man told the police that the woman owed money to him as she did not pay the entire sum for the flour and meat that she purchased from him. The woman lived alone. Her two children work abroad. The man faces up to 15 years in jail.
