The national strategy for relations with the diaspora is being worked out and will be launched in October, manager of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations Angela Stafii said in the program “Place for dialog” on the public station “Radio Moldova”, IPN reports.

According to Stafii, there is now no strategy for relations with the diaspora and these relations are regulated by plans. Most of these plans have expired, while the last one expires this year. The strategy is necessary also because the circumstances have changed. “We already overcame the phenomenon of migration out of despair and have now opportunities migration. The people know where they go and what for. We included in this category the old diaspora, which consists of former deportees and their descendents,” she stated.

Angela Stafii also said that the strategy on which 30 persons are working, including representatives of the Moldovan diaspora from different countries, will focus on the reintegration and return of the migrants to the national and cultural values of Moldova. The Moldovan migrants could also contribute to building Moldova’s image abroad.

Stafii called on the representatives of the Moldovan diaspora to take part in the elections of this autumn. “It is important for the people to go to the polls and for the ballots to be enough. That’s why I call on those who are abroad to register on the website www.alegator.md so that the Government organizes the elections abroad at an appropriate level,” she said.

In the same program, Vitalie Vovc, the representative of the Moldovan diaspora in France, said the experience exchange and the lifestyle of the Moldovans living in the West will easier convince those from Moldova who are undecided of the benefits of Moldova’s entry into the EU. “Our key argument is that during 22 years Moldova has been under the influence of Russia and arrived nowhere,” said the Moldovan who settled in France.
