Government to stage Christmas Fair

Even if the municipal authorities said they will organize a Christmas Fair in the Great National Assembly Square next to the Christmas tree, the Government decided to also stage a fair, in the square of the National Palace “,Nicolae Sulac”. The municipality intends to launch the recreational activities on September 17, while the Government said it will start its program on December 23, IPN reports.

The Government said the Christmas Fair “Carolers’ Village” this year will consist of 20 small wooden houses where national producers will offer for sale handmade articles, folk instruments, wooden and clay pieces of art. The guests of Chisinau will be able to take part in a series of workshops where craftspeople will teach how to make artisanal objects, and to taste traditional dishes, mulled wine and other delicacies. The small visitors will enjoy an entertaining atmosphere with animators and will be able to talk to Santa Claus, to recite poems to him and take pictures with him in his House.

The artistic program will be held only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will involve folk music orchestras, singers and brass bands. “The concept of the Christmas Fair this year will center on the mobility of culture so that professional artists from Chisinau will perform on stages in localities of the Republic of Moldova, while the stage of the Fair in the capital city will be animated by amateur artists from the country’s districts. Some of the concerts from the National Palace’s program will be broadcast live on the LED screen installed in the square,” says a press release issued by the Government

The program of artistic events devoted to the Christmas holidays will end on January 7, together with the closure of the Christmas Fair that will be open daily between 3pm and 9pm.

Earlier, the Chisinau City Hall announced that the celebrations on the occasion of the winter holidays in the capital city start on December 17. The main Christmas tree of the country this year was placed in the Great National Assembly Square, where there will be carousels, trains and other recreational activities for children and the Christmas Fair. A professional photographer contracted by the General Division of Culture will photograph gratis those who want near the Santa Claus and the Christmas tree. The House of Santa Claus set up by the City Hall will include areas for amusements and for picture taking.
