Government meeting to take place in Balti

Next week’s meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, August 1, will take place in Balti. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Vlad Filat. His spokesman Igor Volnitchi told Info-Prim Neo that he could not say whether the decision to organize the meeting in Balti was related to the local councilors’ referendum initiative. During Thursday’s meeting of the Balti Municipal Council, the Communists group approved the proposal to organize a local referendum in September to expand the city’s autonomy. Prime Minister Vlad Filat requested the Security and Intelligence Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior to investigate the violation of legal norms by the Balti Municipal Council. Meanwhile, the deputy head of the State Chancellery’s territorial office in Balti Nicolae Oncuta told Info-Prim Neo that the Balti Municipal Council adopted the decision with serious violations of procedure and contents. If the councilors don’t cancel their decision, the State Chancellery will appeal it in the Balti Court of Appeals.
