The Government last week circulated official invitations to the mayor’s offices in Moldova, calling on the mayors to take part in the National Assembly “European Moldova” that was scheduled for May 21. Similar invitations will be transmitted this week to representatives of the central public administrations, namely ministries, agencies and other institutions, IPN reports.
The Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă told a news conference that in connection with the National Assembly “European Moldova”, the Ministry of Culture will buy flags of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. Later, these will be distributed free to all the localities in the country.
The website centering on the May 21 event – moldovaeuropeana.md – has been launched. This provides information about the event and will publish data about the organization of events by Moldovans from the diaspora. There will also be launched a radio/TV promotion campaign.
Daniel Vodă noted that in order to further promote the European values, the authorities will take part in the traditional European Town that this year is staged on May 13. More exactly, the Government and Parliament will have a common tent in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau. The executive will present information about its work and the programs it implements.
The National Assembly “European Moldova” was announced by President Maia Sandu. The event was conceived as a firm message to the international community about the Moldovans’ sincere wish to be part of the European family. The assembly is held ahead of the European Political Community Summit that Moldova will host on June 1.
