The substantial contribution of financial assistance and US support to the Republic of Moldova were discussed during a meeting held by Prime Minister Maia Sandu with the US Congressman Mike Quigley. Maia Sandu has launched the invitation to join the Political Support Group for the Republic of Moldova in the US Congress, a fact that in her opinion will help to strengthen the bilateral dialogue, IPN reports.

"We will highly appreciate the contribution of the United States of America in supporting the ongoing reform processes in the Republic of Moldova. We count on the support and fruitful cooperation with the US in key areas such as democracy and good governance, economic and financial development, and security”, Maia Sandu was quoted by a Government press release as saying.

Also, the prime minister emphasized that the current Government is interested in relaunching the Strategic Dialogue with the USA and capitalizing on this cooperation format through joint working group meetings. At the same time, Maia Sandu thanked the American partners for the support offered for strengthening the security, sovereignty and integrity of the Republic of Moldova as well as for the US contribution to the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.

In his turn, the US official reiterated the readiness of the United States to continue to support the Republic of Moldova. Mike Quigley stressed the need to ensure transparency in state decision-making processes and to fight corruption in our country.
