Government insists on income declarations for the persons holding public positions

The Government of Moldova insists on amending the legislation on the declaration and control of the incomes of the persons holding public offices, requesting from the Center for Fighting Economic Crime and Corruption (CCECC) to increase the efficiency of identifying corruption cases committed by corrupt civil servants involved in economic-social development programs, including in distributing financial and material resources. A recent Governmental decision attests the passive attitude of the leaders from central specialized bodies in public administration on finding out and preventing corruption in the institutions they head, evaluating the risks and the factors that generate corruption situations. The Government supports the necessity of implementing all the actions included in the Action Plan for the implementation of the national strategy for preventing and fighting corruption as well as increasing the responsibility of the public administration institutions and of the transparency level in their every-day activity. In this context CCECC will improve the analytic activities and will perform serious investigations in order establish the corruption expanding tendencies, and after 3 months it will present an assessment report to the Government. Until July 26 CCECC together with the Ministry of Justice will present to the Government a draft on amending the legislative framework in order to ensure a normative base for a corruptibility expertise of the normative legislative acts, the expertise Methodology of the corruptibility expertise of legal acts as well as the composition and the activity regulations of the interdepartmental draft laws’ corruptibility expertise Work Group. The Government ordered to the General Prosecutor Office, CCECC, Intelligence Service, Customs Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs and to other ministries to intensify the efforts on fighting corruption.
