Government gives positive appreciation to the Law on electronic communications

The Government gave a positive appreciation to the Law on electronic communications. The draft law aims at adjusting the local legislative framework to the European one in order to create favorable conditions for turning to good account all the operations provided in the field of electronic communications. New chapters, such as the rights of users, access to public networks of electronic communications and associated infrastructure, Identification and Analysis of relevant markets, appointing operators with significant power, legal spectrum of radio frequencies, Universal service were introduces in the draft. According to the note of the Ministry of Informational Technologies, Vladimir Molojen, the Law will allow the efficient liberalization of the market and creation of favorable conditions for the entrepreneurship activity as well as protecting users from abuses, will stimulate concurrence and competitiveness of the provided services. The representatives of the specialized institutions and operators participated in elaborating the draft. Adjusting the local legislative framework related to the electronic communication to the European one is stipulated in the Action Plan Moldova-EU, in the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP) and in “Modernization of the Country – Welfare of the People” activity program of the Government for 2005-2009.
