The Government from Chisinau believes that the GSP+ of the European Union, despite all the advantages it offers, cannot replace the economic agreements with CIS countries and cannot assure the quick and efficient rerouting for most of the merchandise exported by the Republic of Moldova from Eastern markets to the European ones. This declaration is part if the negative feedback of the Government from last week regarding the legislative initiative on denouncing foundation agreements of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the establishment of the Economic Union. The legislative initiative belongs to MPs Oleg Serebrian, Igor Clipii, Valentina Golban, Vitalia Pavlicenco, Ion Neagu and Valentina Cusnir. According to the Government’s decision, denouncing the CIS foundation agreements would take the Republic of Moldova out of the CIS, but would not end the current contracts with CIS. Therefore the Republic of Moldova will not be a member country and will not take part in the negotiation of new agreements of potential interest for our country, only if the documents do not state otherwise. According to the 33 article of the Economic Union creation treaty, signed in Moscow on September 24, 1993, every signing part can leave the agreement if it announces with 12 months in advance. If Moldova leaves this treaty it would lose member rights in the Economic Union and would not benefit from any rights within this organization, the Governmental declaration stated, cited by Info-Prim Neo.
