The Government assumed responsibility before Parliament for amending law No. 270 of 2018 concerning the unitary salary system in the budgetary sector. The bill is aimed at introducing a specific pay raise for personnel of medical units, authorities and institutions of 30% of the annual basic salary for persons entitled to such a raise, IPN reports.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Sergiu Pușcuța, Minister of Finance, the proposed amendment is a first step towards achieving the objective to double the salary of medical personnel in stages: by 30% from September 1, by another 30% from January 1, 2021 and by 40% in the first half of 2021.
The modification takes effect on September 1, 2020 and will have implications for about 4,500 employees. The estimated costs of 40 million lei were stipulated in the bill to amend the 2020 state budget.
Under the Constitution, the bill for which the Government assumes responsibility bypassing passage through Parliament takes effect in three days (72 hours) if the executive is not dismissed by a motion of no-confidence.
