The Ministry of Finance will allocate 70 million lei from the Government’s Reserve Fund to the Central Election Commission for organizing and holding the snap parliamentary elections on July 11. The draft Government decision was approved unanimously on May 12, IPN reports.
The Government recommended the CEC to review the planned election-related costs down.
Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said the allocation of the first tranche will enable the CEC to start the process of organizing the snap parliamentary elections of July 11. If the initial sum agreed today is insufficient for covering the costs incurred by the CEC, they will look for new financial possibilities so that the elections are conducted in appropriate conditions.
The draft Government decision takes effect when it is published in the Official Gazette.
The CEC approved the expenditure estimate for organizing and holding the snap parliamentary elections on July 11, 2021 at 125.046,7 million lei.
