The Cabinet convened a meeting in order to appoint two judges to the Constitutional Court. They are Liuba Șova and Nicole Roșca, selected out of four candidates proposed to the Government by the competition commission, IPN reports.

According to the competition commission’s analysis, the highest score was awarded to Liuba Șova.

"As for the score, Vladimir Grosu and Eduard Serbenco, the other two candidates selected by the commission, obtained a better result than Nicolae Roșca. But our idea is to promote new people at the Constitutional Court and at other institutions too. I think this is fair," Prime Minister Maia Sandu said.

The prime minister also said that Nicolae Roșca, the second judge on behalf of the Government appointed to the Constitutional Court, is a representative of ACUM bloc. He will have to suspend his party membership during the tenure.

"I want to believe that judges appointed on behalf of the Government to the Constitutional Court, together with their colleagues from the new composition of the Court, will be able to restore the Constitutional Court’s credibility before the society," Maia Sandu specified.

The contest for the selection of judges at the Constitutional Court by the Government took place on August 8th. The commission included not only representatives of the government but also representatives of the civil society.
