The Government has allocated 1 million lei for the activities organized for and with the involvement of Moldovans living abroad, IPN reports. According to a communiqué of the Bureau for Relations with the Diaspora, the money was earmarked following amendments made to the 2013 state budget.

The money is intended for organizing cultural events during the winter holidays and for supporting training courses, especially Romanian language courses for Moldovan migrants’ children.

The Moldovans from abroad often ask for financial support from the Bureau for Relations with the Diaspora for such types of activities. A part of the money will go to launch the second program DOR designed for representatives of the Moldovan diaspora. Its goal is to sensitize the young people from the second and third generations of migrants to their cultural identity and to create emotional ties between the native country and representatives of the diaspora.
