After the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) announced that it decided to exclude Grigore Cobzac from the party, the former MP expressed his bewilderment at such a decision, saying he cannot understand why this happened. He also said that many will leave the party after him, including the team with which he worked in the previous election campaigns, IPN reports.

“There was also Marcel Petrușan, the PAS candidate in the local elections in the town (e.n. Hâncești), who scored 47% of the vote in the runoffs. He was young and ran in elections for the first time and was now also excluded from the party, as I was,” Grigore Cobzac stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

According to him, among the invoked reasons for his exclusion is probably the nonobservance of party discipline given that he was suggested as an independent candidate for the new parliamentary elections in Hâncești by the PAS local organization. “But the reason is much more serious and it is even more serious when those from the PAS do not realize it. By the way, they are not sincere when they communicate with society and the press. They permanently invoke my refusal to run following an internal party conflict. Yes, it’s true, but half of the truth cannot be called truth!” he stated.

He admitted that there is a conflict inside the party organization in Hâncești. It arouse when the local PAS team proposed that the list of candidates in elections should consist of applicants chosen by secret ballot, but the request was rejected by the party’s senior administration.

Grigore Cobzac also said that a denigration campaign was launched against him and he is accused of lack of integrity and of cowardice. “Imagine that we discuss the parliamentary elections and the candidate in constituency No. 38 against such a background. Could I propose my candidacy when such serious accusations were made against me? I would have accepted if Maia Sandu had proposed me. This would indirectly have meant that she refuted all the accusations made against me,” he stated.

Olesea Stamate, former minister of justice in the Sandu Government, is the PAS candidate for MP in Hâncești. Grigore Cobzac was registered as an independent.
