Italy will stand by Ukraine and offer help whenever needed. Italy also supports the path chosen by Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia and appreciates the work done for qualifying for EU membership, stated the Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni during opening remarks at the second EPC Summit taking place in Moldova.
According to the Italian official, “the world leaders have gathered at this summit to remind that Europe is not just a club, it is not just about rules or interests, it is more than that, it is a civilization that was founded on the idea that people are free and equal, on ideas like solidarity and the rule of law”.
"We are here to remind you that we will not allow these principles to be challenged or destroyed by those who think they can return us to the most difficult years of the past”, added Giorgia Meloni.
The Italian prime minister added that together we must find solutions to the energy crisis, the connectivity crisis and the crises that geopolitics brings. Illegal migration also needs to be addressed. "We can do this to have a Europe that, after being a protagonist of the past, is a protagonist of the future”, declared Giorgia Meloni.
