Germany has offered a batch of humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova, including 3 fire trucks, 255 camp beds and 50 generators. The assistance is provided by Germany through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
During the handover ceremony, Anatolie Viniciuc, deputy head of the Emergency Management Inspectorate, stressed the importance of humanitarian assistance for the Republic of Moldova, including for Ukrainian refugees. “We are deeply grateful to the German Republic for its support”, said Viniciuc.
Ullrich Kinne, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Moldova, noted that the aid comes in response to Moldova’s efforts to support the Ukrainian people.
“Germany is providing practical assistance to the Republic of Moldova. It is a great honor for me to hand over today three fire trucks worth about 50,000 euros and which are offered by the Leipzig municipality. In addition, I’m handing over 255 camp beds and 50 generators worth about 60 thousand euros. These were funded by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and were purchased by the German Agency for Technical Assistance”, said Ullrich Kinne.
Janis Mazeiks, head of the EU delegation to Moldova, said that the European Union and its member states will continue to provide immediate support to the Republic of Moldova to help cope with the influx of refugees. “We are grateful to the German Government for another opportunity and assistance that is being offered to the Republic of Moldova today through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. This aid is part of the general support provided by the European Union. It will be beneficial for everyone, not only for refugees”, added the head of the delegation.
Earlier this month, on Germany’s initiative, an international conference was held to seek immediate political, financial and material assistance, as well as expertise for the democratic reform process in the Republic of Moldova.
