In connection with the expected creation of a crisis cell on December 26, the Government agreed a series of measures to ensure the security of citizens during the winter holidays and to manage possible interruptions in the supply of power, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs will intensify patrolling on public routes and at festive events and will manage road traffic in crowded areas. The use of fireworks will be monitored and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will be responsible for situations that can endanger the security of citizens.

In order to manage the flows of passengers and to increase the capacity of teams at border crossing points, the Border Police will cooperate with the authorities of the neighboring countries.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will be responsible for ensuring the proper state of road infrastructure, cleaning and maintaining roads, and will ensure the efficient operation of the airport.

Also, support will be provided to citizens from the diaspora to obtain documents in an emergency regime. The people in difficulty will also be offered the necessary support.

The National Food Safety Agency will be responsible for ensuring the product quality control.

During a meeting with the officials in charge, Prime Minister Dorin Recean also referred to the measures that would need to be taken in case of interruptions in the supply of electricity.

In the absence of electricity, the hospitals and medical units will work without interruption, schools will switch over to generators, and the authorities will cooperate with mobile network operators to guarantee connectivity in emergency situations, according to a press release from the Government.

The Republic of Moldova risks being seriously affected by a humanitarian crisis if Gazprom stops natural gas deliveries to the Transnistrian region. According to the authorities, such a situation can lead to a humanitarian crisis on the left bank of the Nistru River.
