General Cooperation Agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Parliament ratified the General Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. According to the authorities, the ratification of this agreement opens new opportunities for Moldovan citizens and companies, strengthening the partnership with one of the world's major economies, IPN reports.

"The agreement falls under the category of intergovernmental treaties and serves as a basis for the development of the Moldovan-Saudi partnership, representing the first treaty between the parties. The document aims to support mutual cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, development cooperation, education, science, culture, media, youth and sports, and this string can continue," Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, told the parliament's plenary.

The Deputy Prime Minister also said that the agreement will contribute to increasing Moldova's economic, social, scientific, agricultural and cultural potential. Also, on the basis of this agreement, Moldova will be able to conclude separate agreements and memorandums of understanding with Saudi Arabia on specific areas of common interest.

The agreement has been concluded for a period of five years, with the possibility of an automatic extension for consecutive one-year periods.

The General Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was signed in Riyadh on November 4, 2024.
