Galina Tufekci: Society can ask international organizations to conduct investigations into case of Turkish teachers
The civil society organizations should call on international organizations to objectively investigate the actions of all the institutions and persons involved in the expulsion of the Turkish teachers as these can acehive results, Galina Tufekci, the wife of the principal of the Ceadîr-Lunga Lyceum “Orizont” Feridun Tufekci, who was expelled from the Republic of Moldova two years ago, stated in IPN’s public debate “Two years of expulsion of Turkish teachers. Lessons learned and lessons to be learned”.
“This is the only way to get at the truth. In Moldova, it is very hard to prove something,” said the woman.
Galina Tufekci noted that he does not have feelings of revenge. On the country, he feels compassion for those people who went thus far and destroyed people’s destinies. During the last two years, she understood that the people in the country are not really free, but she would like them to regain their freedom.
The Turkish teacher’s wife considers politics penetrated deeply all the spheres of activity. There were “invented” laws, but these cannot lead to progress. “Anyone, even the politicians, should be first of all humans. In our country, everything is decided by politics. In the recent past, even the mass media have focused on politics only. The problem of our society is the fact that we lost the human values,” stated Galina Tufekci.
She also said that three of the seven expelled teachers were doctors of sciences. Even so, many assert that they were “terrorists”. In Gagauzia, no media outlet covered the case of the Turkish teachers.
In another development, Galina Tufekci said the apologies offered by Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo over the expulsion caused pain to her as many people thought her husband was released in this connection, but it is not so.
The public debate “Two years of expulsion of Turkish teachers. Lessons learned and lessons to be learned” was the 150th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture through public debates” that are supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
