Galina Tufekci, the wife of the principal of the Ceadîr-Lunga Lyceum “Orizont” Feridun Tufekci, who was expelled from the Republic of Moldova two years ago, said that the period after this event in her life and in the life of her children was the most tragic one for her as mother and wife and also for their children who suffer as they love their father who was an example for them.

“After those events, my son asked me: “Why did they take my father?” And I answered: “Because he is the best”. Surely, the child cannot understand the whole situation, but the children love their farther and expect him to come home each second,” the woman stated in IPN’s public debate “Two years of expulsion of Turkish teachers. Lessons learned and lessons to be learned.

The teacher’s wife noted that during the two years, the silence kept by the state, the authorities seemed strange to her as the officials didn’t speak at all in public about this tragedy as a result of which 12 minors remained without fathers, but six of these children are Moldovan citizens.

“During these two years, no authority reacted to the fact that their citizens remained without father, while I, as a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, remained without husband. This makes me have questions,” stated Galina Tufekci. She stated that this case was initially disseminated, but no one has been yet punished for the acts against the seven teachers.

The woman also said that during two years, nothing new happened and any of her attempts to find out something met with obstacles on the part of the authorities investigating the case. Even when she went to the Chisinau Appeals Court to challenge the secret sentence given to the former SIS head Vasile Botnari, who is the only person accused in the case of the Turkish teachers, she was followed by individuals.

The public debate “Two years of expulsion of Turkish teachers. Lessons learned and lessons to be learned” was the 150th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture through public debates” that are supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
