French Embassy implements project on repairing and renovation of sanitary spaces in section for children of municipal clinic phtisis-pneumonia hospital

The French Embassy and French Alliance to Moldova have implemented a social project on repairing and arrangement of sanitary spaces in the section for children of the clinic phtisis-pneumonia hospital in Chisinau on January-February 2005. The project worth about 5,000 euros was implemented with the financial assistance of the French company Veolia and mobile telephony company Voxtel in Moldova. Taking part in the opening on March 10 were French Ambassador to Moldova Edmond Pamboukjian, Voxtel director-general Francis Gelibter, the director for public communities of Veolia, Christian Arnould, and the director of the French Alliance in Moldova, Olivier Jacquot. Ambassador Pamboukjian told the opening ceremony that his wife Chantal has taken over an initiative of the German Embassy for restoration of this institution, launched two years ago. The diplomat was satisfied with the financial assistance of companies Voxtel and Veolia, saying that the implementation of this project was impossible without their support. Also, he appreciated the quality of the works performed by Moldovan company Tuscom and thanked director Tudor Stavila for contribution and direct support for implementation of this project. The ambassador expressed hope that these renovations will be useful to the hospital personnel and will contribute to recovery of children as soon as possible. Voxtel manager general Francis Gelibter said that he gave green light to the initiative of the French Embassy because Voxtel develops sponsoring activities in Moldova, especially in the social sector and notably regarding children, in the past years. He asked the hospital administration to contact him when the hospital will need the support of Voxtel. Hospital director Maria Cetulean thanked the French ambassador and highlighted the opportunity of such projects since the local public administration in Chisinau has financed the institution below necessities in the past years. She noted that the section for children of the hospital has benefited of the assistance of the French and German Embassies and nongovernmental organisations such as Save the Children, the French Alliance, Caritas Moldova, and Caritas-Luxembourg, the Finnish organisation Friendship Bridge, which contribute with humanitarian and financial assistance every year. According to Cetulean, the section for children of the phtisis-pneumonia hospital treats about 400 children under 18 a year who suffer from tubercular affections.
