The French Alliance in Moldova houses these days the personal exhibition of painter Sergiu Cotofan. The theme of the 24 displayed works is human figure, pencilled under a layer of oil in light colours, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Coming from a well-known family in graphic art and having an original vision of the interior world of the persons which creates his environment, the painter has impressed the art critics, colleagues, amateurs of fine arts with his paintings, presenting images emanating passion, intelligence, power, love and thirst for life.
Sergiu Coţofan told Info-Prim Neo that all the images that formed the heroes of the portraits are close and well-known people. “I never reproduce the exterior world of the human, but the interior one, and I could not finish these works if I did not know these people very well”, plastic artist said.
As Coţofan says, the technique that he uses has it roots in the old art, in Renaissance, in classic art, while his “teachers” were Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Antonioni etc.
Requested by the news agency, plastic artist Sergiu Cuciuc stated that Sergiu Coţofan is a special artist for the way he sees the world, his distinct style, laconic and suggestive language of colours. “I think the first toy of Maria and Nicolae Coţofan was the colour ball, so as Sergiu’s coming to the world of arts with works that impress and make you to meditate was natural”, Cuciuc said.
The hosts appreciated the young artist’s works saying that the headquarters of the French Alliance has filled with special colours and images, taking the place of other works of the same artistic level after Coţofan’s first exhibition.
The exhibition of Sergiu Coţofan will be held in the headquarters of the French Alliance until the end of March.
