The Francophone Film Festival was inaugurated on Monday evening in Chisinau. Seven films in French, with Romanian subtitles, will be screened at Cineplex Loteanu by October 31, IPN reports.

Tickets to the film are free, within the capacity of the hall, and can be picked up at the cinema’s ticket offices.

The film productions are of various genres: comedies, dramas, thrillers, and documentaries. The festival started with Jeanne du Barry, a 2023 historical drama film directed and produced by Maïwenn. There will also be screened the films Vincent doit Mmourir, La Passion by Dodin Bouffant, Bâtiment 5, Une année difficile, Les Gardiennes de la planète, and Salem, all released in 2023 and 2024.

The productions have already won awards at different international festivals. They bear testimony to the richness and diversity of the French cinema, which remains very popular among the Moldovan public, said the Embassy of France in the Republic of Moldova.

The Francophone Film Festival is at its 23rd edition.
