A child aged four months from Scoreni village of Strășeni district died in the pediatric intensive care section of the Mother and Child Institute of Chisinau two days ago. The boy was brought in a very series state and doctors could not save him.
Victoria Lupu, head of the pediatric intensive care section, has told IPN that the boy was taken to the hospital in a critical condition by the Aviasan service on March 8, at about 11pm. He was in a coma and had severe hypertension and bilateral pneumonia. Doctors do not exclude secondary meningitis and possible poisoning. The mother told the doctors that she gave her son medicines. She denied having dropped the child or having given particular food to eat to him.
The child died on March 9, at abbot 3pm. Doctors of the Mother and Child Institute notified the competent bodies and medical examiners are to find out the cause of death.
Mayor of Scoreni Svetlana Tabacari said the woman, who has two more children aged three and five, is from a neighboring village. She moved to Scoreni to her partner who is the father of her third child. Only the youngest kid was registered with the local public authorities.
The mayor noted she regrets the assertions of neighbors, who said that the authorities didn’t pay appropriate attention to the family. The local authorities never received complaints or notifications about this family. The village is large, with 4,000 inhabitants.
Svetlana Tabacari also said the situation of the family and the conditions in which the children are raised will be examined and a decision as to their registration with the local public authorities will be taken later.
