Four candidates passed test for position of General Prosecutor

After the interview stage, which was held over the course of two days, the Ministry of Justice announced that four out of the 16 candidates who passed the first stage of the contest have reached the final stage.

Oleg Crîșmaru, prosecutor, Vladislav Gribincea, Legal Resource Center chairman, Veaceslav Soltan, prosecutor, and Alexandr Stoianoglo, former prosecutor of UTA Gagauzia and former Democrat MP are the 4 candidates that made the short list.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice, it is explained that the members of the Commission have analyzed the candidacies by taking into account training, professional skills, integrity and the personal qualities of the candidates. Video recordings of the interviews will be posted online today, October 30.

The Commission's decision and candidate short list will be submitted to the Superior Council of Prosecutors, who will elect a single applicant and will put forward the candidacy to the president of the Republic of Moldova.

Shortly after the results were announced, Prime Minister Maia Sandu wrote on Facebook that she "expected the shortlist to include more candidacies from civil society". "I plead for transparency and I hope that the video recordings of the interviews will be made public. Going forward, I will continue to ask for maximum transparency", wrote Maia Sandu.

The contest for the position of General Prosecutor was announced on September 30.
