One of the former deputy directors of the Information and Security Service was detained today, September 6, for 72 hours. He was indicted for exceeding service duties with serious consequences in the case of the expulsion, on September 6, 2018, of seven Turkish citizens, teachers at the Horizon high school network in Moldova.
The Prosecutor General's Office informs in a press release, quoted by IPN, that on Thursday, September 5, in the same criminal case, the Bureau of Migration and Asylum director was charged for exceeding service duties with serious consequences, being forbidden to leave the country. Prosecutors have asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to suspend the director from office.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the basis for starting the criminal case were the service investigations carried out by the Internal Protection and Anti-corruption Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but also the conviction of Moldova at the ECHR for violation of the rights of Turkish citizens.
The accusations are submitted one year after the expulsion of the Turkish teachers.
The president of the Parliament Committee for national security, defense and public order, Chiril Moţpan, said yesterday, in a press briefing, that "until now he has established that Vasile Botnari, former SIS director, and Alexandru Balan, former Sis deputy director, in the absence of an agreement between the SIS and the Bureau of Migration and Asylum, approved the documents concerning the removal procedure under escort of seven foreign nationals, as well as other adjacent documents. The foreign citizens were accompanied on board the aircraft by SIS officers in the absence of an abroad travel order”.
