A former patrolling inspector from Cimislia was sentenced to six years in jail for acts of corruption and banned from working in the bodies of the Ministry of the Interior for a period of five years. He was also fined 40,000 lei, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in June 2013 the culprit, who worked as an inspector at the public security division of the Cimislia Police Inspectorate, asked 4,000 lei from a drover for not charging him with driving under the influence.

Several days later, the inspector was arrested by prosecutors and anticorruption officers, immediately after he received the asked money. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
